Plains War advice sought. Paint and guidons.
« on: January 01, 2018, 04:13:26 PM »
Hi, I'm getting into 28mm Plains Wars, just purchased loads of Wargames Foundry stuff in their Xmas sale. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a vallejo paint or similar for Indian flesh. Also a source for cavalry guidons. Thanks in advance , Brian.

I can't recommend a Vallejo Paint but Foundry do a triad of Native American Flesh which I thouroughly recommend.  As for guidons try google, save as pic and adjust to size and print.

Don't use Vallejo paints at all put a basic ruddy flesh tone and a thin wash of a red brown gives a really good native American skin tone.  At least it works for me.

Sorry can't help with the paint choice beyond the Foundry triad suggested earlier.

Guidons you can get from Flags of War and very nice they are too. You have a decent selection to choose from as well.

That is very handy to know, old bean.
(Gotta convert some GM Cavalry to mounted versions at some point, eh?)

Thank you.

You might not need to, Lance mentioned he might be doing the mounted versions this year... ;)

Just noticed that North Star have included their Artizan US cavalry in their January sale if you need more variety.

Brian, do these skin tones look too 'Redskins' cartoony to you?
