Painting Camels
« on: January 03, 2018, 10:39:45 PM »
Hope this is the right board for this query.

I got some of the Perry “French in Egypt” figures from Santa but haven’t a clue as to how to paint camels.

Any and all suggestions will be gratefully received.

Spray them with Rustoleum camouflage khaki as an undercoat, use a Vallejo flesh wash then dry brush with a light, close to white, khaki, finish the saddles.  Do a heavier dry brush on the underbelly   from tail to neck.

I did some awhile ago.  I used Foundry Drab.  Results are on the bottom of page 8 of this thread: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=72065.105

I was very happy with the results I got from following this tutorial, though I took the basic ideas rather than using the exact colours:

If you want a good visual guide watch "Lawrence of Arabia", there's lots of camels in that. You'll see that they run from a medium brown to a "whitish" khaki.
