if you are after a historical set covering African exploration (and the Zulu War, Sudan, etc), then 'Death in the Dark Continent' is excellent, and includes superb historical background as well as every African tribe and colonial power you can imagine.
But you won't get your troops being attacked by feces-throwing monkeys or tse-tse flies as you do in Congo.

It's quite funny that some would seek to create a hierarchy of the childish and non-childish within a hobby where everyone is playing army with toy soldiers.  :)

PERFECT!!!  lol

GREAT article and picture!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I've never played CONGO, but reading the rules and some reviews on the web I can say it looks like a very clever, well designed and FUN game! What more can one ask for?

And let's keep in mind that the AWESOME website that inspired generations of gamers - the classical Major General Tremorden Rederring’s Colonial-era Wargames Page - is a very serious Colonial Wargaming site with dinosaurs, tribal sorcerers and wondrous machines...  ;)

The picture is the same one from the back of the rulebook, I think. There are also other shots of the same piece of terrain within, if memory serves.

Hallo,

Congo is one of the best skirmish and "fun" game I ever played in my Lllloooonnng playing life.
Each time we played it (even with the same scenario) we finish with an other result, and... one of the best evening game we had !
Short (maximum 1h30) and VERY interresting game (even if only the theme is realy historical !!!)

Thank to Tomahawk studio for this excellent game !

Jacques (who like very much this game)

Thank you Jacques.
I hope, you'll like the other scenarios.

Laurent
