Wings of Glory WW1 1/144th scale Albatros D.Va
« on: January 08, 2018, 01:32:50 PM »
I've repainted these Wings of Glory WW1 1/144th scale aeroplane models to play with my local games group (Old Guard at Northallerton, North Yorkshire)

Albatros D.Va of the Deutsche Luftstreitkräfte.

Colours and unit is fictitious.

Albatros D.II and Albatross D.Va

Cheers
Roy

Good one, but I really do prefer clear discs on flying models.

Lovely work. Are those crosses hand painted?

They look great!

The Wings of War/Glory system uses specific base sizes so clear discs wouldn't work for the game.

Lovely stuff - a nice (believable!) alternative colour scheme.

My mistake - I didn't make myself clear. I meant for the props, where details are blurred in flight.

Thanks everyone  :)

The crosses are hand painted, but I can't really claim that the crosses were freehand, as I simply repainted over what was already there (a case of colouring inside the lines). Tbh, I'm not good enough to paint such as those freehand to such a good result, and didn't have any decals to use.

FK. I agree with you tbh. It was originally my intention to swap the propeller blades for plastic and paint on the 'movement'. I was also going to apply thread to the wings, etc., and use a Peter Pig metal pilot, but, tbh, there wasn't that much interest in the game at the time, with the group I played with, so I couldn't see the point in going to such lengths for something that was going to be not played with.
