Very nice job on this, really clean.

Indeed, but 'Blue Brick Syndrome' is dangerously close, I fear!

Another small update.  Mostly more blue bricks, which makes for rather boring updates I'm afraid.... ::)

Upper door and pillars finished and glued in position.  Now I can get on and finish the stonework for the sidetower.
I have also done the flagstones for the top of the main tower and added a thin strip of foam embossed with stonework for the interior.

Most of the stonework now complete.  Just need to do the big top blocks.

Once all the stonework is done I can add the roof and tiles for the side-tower.  Then I need to do the steps up to the main door and any additional groundwork.  Hopefully it will get done this week, leaving a week for painting.

I tried making a couple of buildings with Hirst Art blocks once upon a time.

However, I never worked out how to get paint into all the cracks and there were always bits of white poking out. I'm curious to see how you tackle it, as I will probably steal the method :D

Thanks chaps.  :)

@zemjw:  I'm not quite sure myself!  I am aware of the possible problem, but can't use spray cans (it will melt the foam) and I don't have an airbrush.  My initial thought is to go with very thin paint, in several layers if needs be.
If that doesn't work then I will paint it pale blue...  :D

that is awesome. I love it,but it must be a real labour of love to build it one brick at a time. keep up the good work!

The Hirst Arts site talks about using household emulsion, but I never had the courage to try - link

Hi Paul I built a castle using blue foam bricks, When is was finished I coated the whole thing in a very watery mix of polyfiller to fill in all the spaces between the bricks and then painted it with household emulsion, very watery coats as well
Started with this

and ended up with this

@gamer Mac
Very nice Colin. It was excellent, although I never got close to it with my troops at BLAM!
I think even a watery layer of filler would block the detail on my tower. Yours benefits from the blockier, rugged exterior.  My blocks are possibly a bit too close fitting and uniform.  I think filler would fill in any gaps and I would loose the effect.  Watery, thin layers of paint are the way I will go.  I have a small test piece I built before starting the tower so will test-paint that first to try and avoid any big problems.

Tower roof and steps still to be done before painting commences.  Running short of time....
