Its been awhile since I posted the pictures of my war elephants, but it doesn't mean that my Carthaginian army has been completely forgotten. I just haven't put any pictures of my progress on LAF. In order to make up for this here is a large block of greek hoplites that I have been working on and of for quite some time. It's an entire Victrix box of 48 hoplites. I usually use them in blocks of 24 but they look awesome in a large 48 block.

I don't have plans for a hoplites army any time soon so at the moment they serve as mercenaries in my Punic army. I might expand them into a Syracuse army using all the new Victrix greek cavalry and maybe one more box of hoplites, but that all in the future. I think that one of the really great things about a Carthaginian army, that it can serve as a springboard for lots of other armies as it is so diverse.

More Carthaginian veterans and citizen infantry on the way

cheers
Erik

Nice phalanx.  I completely agree about the Carhaginians.  Not only do they have the coolest troops but so many different types.  The problem is that you don't ever stop collecting them.  :D

Great work. Massive blocks of infantry really looks awesome.

I thought you were on a strickt painting schedule and only painted crusaders. Have you cheated with these guys?

I am and yes it's a bit cheating. The miniatures were painted some time ago, but a hadn't done the shields or the bases. I have been doing a little here and there in between our Danish crusader project.

After some time away from painting medieval miniatures from various periods I am back with my punic war miniatures. It was a god game of Too the Strongest that got me going again. That and of course the mega nice new fanatics from Victrix. As always the paint up easy and nice and the shield transfers look fabulously.

I have another unit on the way. Combined with these guys my old gallic army will be ready to join the fight both on its own or as allies the others.

I might need even more of these guys.

Cheers

These guys are impressive!  :o  :-*
They really give the impression of a berserk charge! You'll need more of them for sure ;D

Very cool looking unit.

Looks like someone did an awesome job of airbrushing the base colors.  ;)

Excellent painting.  I have these on order so it's nice to get some inspiration for when they arrive.

Glad to be of help Hu Rhu. As Dr. Zombie said, this is really all up to airbrushing and washing. He is referring to the fact that my airbrush is broken at the moment and he was kind enough to base color my celts. What he should be crediting himself for however is that he insisted on me putting fore miniatures pr. base instead of three as I had initially planned. As DintheDin wrote they truly look like a beserker wave when ranked up so close.

I'm glad that my comment probably tipped the scales for 4 minis per base!
For many years I was playing DBM.
Gallic warriors (15mm) had two basings, the Warbands fast with 3 warriors per base (4x2cm) and the Warbands Ordinary and Superior with 4 minis per base (4x1.5cm).
I myself have painted these warriors, I've put them 4 per base and they look like a terrifying berserker wave!!!

Keep up the good job! Cheers!
