Pinno's HYW Castle project
« on: January 18, 2018, 12:25:36 PM »
Hi All,

I am new here and have few project on which I am currently working. One is the castle for my HYW period (for 28mm).
Here are the few pictures (still early WIP) - use Hirst Art mold for stone blocks. The castle will not be on flat board.

Looks great, Pinno! That stone texture is quite nice, first I thought it was the old fieldstone mold, but it must be some newer version, the stone edges look sharper? I haven't dabbled with HA for years...

Very nice. Great to see the plaster blocks assemble and painted.

Lots of people seem to get a bit overwhelmed and start out casting lots of blocks, but often seem to loose steam before the painting stage.

Are you going for a whole castle, or a corner that can project onto a table?

^These would be my questions too.

A very nice first post, BTW. Great way to introduce oneself. Welcome!  :)

That’s looking rather magnificent, nice to see the varied levels.

@Verderer

Thank you. HA molds are great. I'll check which mold is this one which I use.

@Fred

I create several molds, then glue all blocks, and repet the process. In this way it is not boring.
It will be the whole castle. Thx

@Anselm van Helsing

Thank you. I am working on 2 projects in the same time. Other one is Napoleonic.

@Levied troop

Thx. I will post the updates here.

That's turning out to be one heck of castle!  :-*

Everybody, including myself, should build one, at least in 28mm :)

@Burgundavia
Yes, I use mold 263.
I am finishing the main building - working on the roof tiles.

Yes, that is MUCH nicer than the old fieldstone mold.

I was thinking the same thing. I have the old fieldstone mold. It always looked a little cartoony.

Those are Hirst Art blocks? Haven't seen them before. Better take a look.

You're making those Hirts Arts molds look very tempting :)

Which kind of plaster are you using?

@Hammers

This is the HA blocks/mold which I use. And it's enough for my plan.

@Munindk

I am using local plaster and I get great results. I am from Bosnia, btw.
