Ah, I love the look of a well groomed savannah - or floor carpet - as the case may be!   lol  Yes, very nice game and report.  Though not an African animal in sight - or was I distracted by all the action (no fair saying they ran off because of all the gunfire!)?!

As to the comment on the carpet, I have a nice canvas ground cover I painted - eight different layers of paint, one color per layer that I think is generally very effective. However, close-ups reveal the same issue, some all too 'regular' lines in the weave of the material.  Oh, well.  What really matters is that it works in the game - and yours does.

And the animals?  Well, I just plain like to see them in a game for no other reason than I like to see them in a game.

Sad to think that those fine looking horses will soon be consumed by the ravages of the tse-tse fly.  I do hope you had unhorsed versions for the next game in the area to reflect this bit of 'reality'.   :D

Thank you for your comments.
As I am also a terrain perfectionist, I'm really sorry that the carpet spoils a bit the look of the game, but, at that time, that was all that our club with its humble means could provide... In some of my threads you may meet the same carpet imitating European plains  :D
Since then, terrain-wise, things got better, though.

Personally, I do not own a single base in 28mm (?!?) my main collection is in 15mm. I think Panos has acquired some African animals, we may hopefully meet them in his future scenarios.
Those fine looking horses with metal hinds will need a steel tse-tse fly to be consumed  :D Cheers!

An epic game, I really enjoyed reading through this.

Lots going on and the narration and sense of humour made a good report epic.
Cheers

I'm really glad you enjoyed the narration and especially the sense of humor  ;) although you are miles away.
Because some very close friends, don't  lol
Cheers!

That looked like a great game to participate in. And the report was most enjoyable. It's an unfortunate fact that I find it difficult to read all the way through most game reports (including my own  :D ) but the way this one was presented made it a pleasure to read right through.

Congratulations to all involved.

Great report. What rules were you using?

Some old Napoleonic skirmish rules, "Green Jacket", modified for a colonial game.

Thank you! For good or for bad, I use to stuff my reports with quite a number of pics.
(with the kind tolerance of LAF).
Many lines of words tire the reader. On the other hand, many pictures with no explanation, may be pleasant to the eye, but nobody understands what is exactly happening... So, I was more than happy to find this way of presentation: Making first a Powerpoint, creating the titles, transforming it to a .pdf file, then, when you extract the pics, they come along with the titles. I spent, of course, a considerable time creating the Powerpoint, but it paid off.

You had a strong reason. Remember you were finishing your book that time.
