Sahara - Humphrey Bogart film from 1943
« on: January 22, 2018, 06:06:07 PM »
This afternoon I enjoyed watching a black and white film called Sahara on Channel 4.

I found the close up images of Lulu Belle (a M4 Lee) interesting.

One of my favorite movies of all time! (And the remake with Jim Belushi in the Humphry Bogart role is not bad either.)

Just the standard wartime movie, one Brit/Yank manages to fight off a horde of Germans who seem to lack any fieldcraft skills. Commando Comics are full of stories like this.Although the feel for being in a real desert is done well in this movie.

Ignore the errors, it is a really good film.
It is inspiration like this that makes me want to do wargaming things......
.....one allied tank, an oasis, a few (28mm) figures etc. etc.

I just watched the 1993 (?) remake. At least the 1943 version had the excuse of being propaganda, but the Napoleonic infantry tactics used by the Germans in this TV movie were just an embarrassment.
