Blitzkrieg in the West: Armies of France for IABSM
« on: February 01, 2018, 06:44:45 PM »
Evening all.

Just a quick heads up to let you know that the first of our 1940 supplements is now available for IABSM, with the French Army being covered in a most comprehensive manner in this 73 page supplement from the pen of Robert Avery.

You can read all about it here:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=7253   Suffice to say that there are thirty company level army lists covering all branches of the French Army.

And here's a pretty picture:

Cheers

Richard

Also Bought it.
I do not play IASBM (I play BG), but is perfect for reference.
The book is vey, very good. Nice historical references and a comprehensive OOB for France 1940. All divisions listed, with their properly attached support units.
As the author says i is perfect to lay down a company and attach to it the suitable, historical accurate supports.
Reccomended.

What Powermonger said. I can only guess at the hours put into creating this, but I can vouch for the ton of research it will save you.

It may be written for IABSM, but I can see any it being a worthwhile purchase for anyone playing ze French in 'company' WWII games (or even above that), thanks to the information provided on formation make-up and equipment.

Good job!

And Ordered.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I don't play IABSM - however I love CoC so I'm interested in this for reference

Does the book break the companies down into platoon structure?

Cheers

Yes the number of platoons/squads are listed, IABSM is a 1:1 game after all. The make-up of each squad is usually mentioned in the attached notes in any case.

It won't be as good as a dedicated CoC book, but I found it really useful all the same, not least for determining what were the most common support elements for any given formation. I don't play IABSM, just CoC and it gets my thumbs up.
