Just get images of real windows and print them on acetate.
cheers

Couloured sharpies results in translucent couloured glass. Use a fine tipped black for the lead which you can just trace over the picture you want. Allow to dry before colouring in.

I’ve used this stuff:
https://www.avery.co.uk/product/crystal-clear-labels-l7784-25

It’s a little more forgiving than printing on acetate (I’d stick it on acetate afterwards though). There’s also a Matt version which might be better at providing the opaque surface of stained glass.

I was re-watching From Hell for a bit of inspiration myself and your church appears briefly in that :)

Excellent suggestions - thank you all  8)

My initial idea of painting the image has been binned. I particularly like the suggestion of Sharpies for colouring-in and the use of acetate that is pre-marked with lead. As a first test I’m going to try printing an image onto 100 micron acetate (sheets ordered). I’ve found this example that I really like and which I think I could modify to fit the shape of the window frame (though I may have to break out the GIMP). It’s a shame it’s not perfectly square but I’m still looking for better.

You can manipulate the image in Photoshop or similar to make it square and at the dimensions you want. Otherwise PM and I can do it.

You can use the Perspective tool in GIMP to square it.

As it was, I didn’t need to avail myself of the services of the GIMP as all I needed was on my iPad.  8)

So, the window assembled:

It’s 45mm by 100mm

After editing for size etc, the image was horizontally flipped so that St. George could be read from inside the church. The basic window was already assembled with the laser cut frame superglued to vacformed blister styrene (the vacforming leaves nice distortions in the glass). The printed face of the acetate was then covered in superglue and the window stuck to it, sandwiching the ink in the middle.

I expect I’ll trim and fit it tomorrow.
