Khurasan releases 15mm Late 14th Century Men-at-Arms
« on: February 02, 2018, 01:25:22 AM »
We are very pleased to release the first mounted codes for our Later 14th Century Medieval range: men-at-arms in jupons with lances upright, the same with lances at 45 degrees, and mounted high command.  The mounted command come with trumpeters on rounceys, and the gamer can choose for the rest of the codes whether the men ride coursers, armoured coursers, caparisoned coursers, or rounceys.

(An upcoming set, mounted men-at-arms in houpelande, have been added to the store page to show what the armoured horses look like, although that code is not yet available.)

Available now:

codes as well, as described above.)

Thanks for that — yes I wanted to do for the Distant Mirror period what Testudo had done for the TYW/ECW period.

Why is the middle image all stretchy like the knights are getting sucked into a black hole, lol?

EDIT: think I fixed it, more of less....

Beautiful looking figures. I think I will start a French HYW army when the knights in houpelande are released. A few additional types that it would nice to see:
1. Less heavily armored foot with melee weapons (for brigans and the like).
2. Speamen/pikemen standing with upright weapons (Scots, Flemish, early Swiss, etc).
3. Men-at-arms in white armor.
(Although at 18mm I suppose one could paint the jupon as metal armor).

Yes the line is being expanded.

No white armour in this period in Western Europe, but the German or Italian style of wearing armour included bared breast plates at times and the German and Italian MAA who have just been made do indeed include poses with bared breast plates but they also include distinctive touches for their origin, such as klappvisors for the Germans.

White armour would be needed of course for the early 15th century — by then many prominent gentlemen would wear it as well as new helmet styles — but we have much to do on the late 14th century first. The expansion to the east has begun, and Hungarian troops have (mostly) been made. After the Germans are done we will need to make Poles and then Lithuanians. Finally Russians and perhaps Scandinavians (to the extent they did not just use German styles).

We also have a huge 13th century range that has had some issues but they’ve been resolved and the models are finally approaching readiness for release. For instance here are the Sicilian Saracen archers:

Mr K, when I saw the knights I assumed Agincourt period (even though you said late 14th century). Now I see the range is listed as 1350-1400. Certainly the figures are quite useable for Agincourt. One question, do the rounceys have simpler horse trappings?

(And a request, 18mm Sassanids please ;) :-*. It seems like everyone is stuck in the 70s. Personally, I could live with the Montvert & Osprey as the primary Sassanid references).

Very nice archers BTW.

The rouncy’s trappings are shown in the first image above, being ridden by the trumpeters. Yes these figures could be used for Agincourt, but they’d need to be supplemented by figures in white armour. That will be a fun expansion but I want to make the “Distant Mirror” period first.

I’ll be making a complete and accurate 7th-8th century range and it’s in fact underway at present, with the Sogdians being the first range. Avars, Sassanids, Arabs, Franks and of course Maurikian Byzantines will all be made.

Sogdians are almost done. Just need high command and Deqhans.

I’m going to do the same thing with the Arab Conquest period that I did with the late 16th century. Just make everything. :-)

Lovely
Will this range extend to the Castilian Civil War? Plans for slingers, light javelins and Genitor types for the Spanish?

Yes -- Spain was a major proxy front in the HYW and that will all be released in a few weeks. Spanish knights had a distinctive look and so separate models for them have been made as well.

As an example, late 14th century Jinetes:
