Don's 1560-1660 thread
« on: February 03, 2018, 03:44:56 PM »
Dear all,

after lurking for serval years, I finally decided to join the LAF. My main collection is WWI and WWII in 20mm, but I recently moved into 28 for the early modern period.
I haven't decided on the rules yet. I have Spanish furry (the small actions variant) and Donnybrook. The pikeman's lament looks promising, and I recently heard there is a renaissance / ECW variant for Sharp practice - is it any good?

For now, I will focus on the early part of the TYW.
figures are Horcata, Perry, and Warlord. To blend the slightly smaller and later perry's in with the rest, I made their base somewhat thicker and changed the uniforms with green stuff.

cheers,

Don

Good start, the Perry and Horcata figures are both very nice, be interested to seeing how this progresses. :)

Glad you are on board.  Your TYW stuff looks very good.  I do like the Horcata figures, very crisp clean castings.  I am looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

Welcome aboard , D B .  I recommend the Pikemans Lament , a good fast paced and exciting ruleset .  The ECW variant of SP is published in the Xmas 2017 Lardies Special btw .

Very nice color palette on the figures.
Very much a 'Dutch Old Masters' look !

thanks, much appreciated!
I think I will go for a few infantry basic units (say one in red, one in blue, one in yellow, one in various colours) and several command figures, so the units can serve either side depending on the attached command figures.
As far as the rules are concerned, I also got myself Pikeman's Lament. Looks really nice, although I'm not sure I'm convinced by all the unit profiles. Do people feel a reload phase is missing? And aren't dragoons too powerful?
