Thank you! The problem is that now I need a mine in which I can deploy a laser boring machine, hmmm ::)

Surely you make a board like the film set of Total Recall(the original)? The sleazy side of the mars colony?

Before I talk about building anything, let me just post the rest of the minis of the Cult...

Aberrants. Best kit I've seen in a while:

Two different bodies and two different sets of arms, but they fit in indistinctly in such a way that you can build four totally different minis. Simply perfect.

Not much to say about the rest. Purestrains:

And first/second generation Hybrids:

I tend to confuse both. I've been told to have a look at their feet or their head ridges to be sure :?

So here you have the (five generations) family pic:

https://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2018/03/creating-cult-culture.html

But now... there is a Patriach missing!

Any respectable Patriarch needs a worthy throne, it is known. But I do not have one... Or do I?

I have all the scenery from the GW Hobbit box, so I think it is time to put it into use ;)

Which leads me to...

Surely you make a board like the film set of Total Recall(the original)? The sleazy side of the mars colony?

Wow, gentlemen, I won't pretend I'm even close to the standards of any of you, but your encouragement is tremendously appreciated! I'm planning to build a humble modular mine, just a few corridors and rooms. A place where the Cult lives underground, halfway between abandoned catacombs and a tech-mine. Some kind of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom meets Total Recall ;D

Oh, just dreaming. This is way beyond my skills. In fact I think it would be better if I commissioned any of you to build a mine... or why not both? A joint project involving you two is a thing we all in LAF would love to see ::)

I absolutely love the mining vehicle. Inspired work. Using the sentinel body as a driver's cabin is perfect. Now I know what to do with that extra sentinel kit in my basement.

I love the mining laser, I must confess I wasn't particularly taken with the first photo under construction, but it all came together really well with a cracking paint job finishing things off - nice work.

I am so incredibly tempted to get a Necromunda thing going... I've got the new cult plastics and a whole host of suitable bits for terrain... :?

Don’t do it! Don’t do it! He’s leading you down a dangerous path! Stay away from the light Jim! He knows your(and my) weak spots! He knows if he sets us a challenge, it’s extremely hard to resist! ;)

If I could do it in such a way that I could cross it with my 2000ad stuff, I would!

That’s easy  ;)

Surely the statue has feet somewhere underneath all that construction. Build a pair of feet as the basis for some ‘underhive’ scenery  :D

It has certainly taken me much longer than expected, but at  least I can show you some progress. I told you about a Patriarch on a throne, so let's see the Patriarch:

Just a sexy belly and a repositioned hand to make him look like he's blessing his breed.

Now onto the throne room itself. It's all about foamboard...

...and Das putty to make it look like bare, irregular stone, in accordance with the large rock to which the throne is attached.

Why did I enclose it, instead of doing three walls and leaving the fourth one for exposition? Because I didn't want a mere vignette. I'm that crazy and I'm seriously doing a full 3D board, a Space Hulk like dungeon, set in a mine or catacombs where the Genestealer Cult thrives underground o_o. So this is just but the first of many other rooms to come!

I originally painted it grey:

But then I realised I didn't like it, it was too gloomy if I was to build a whole set of corridors and rooms. So I tried browns and beiges, and I liked it better:

Once I had the basic structure, I thought of the details. What can one do with a 1cent coin and a plastic bead?

The obvious answer is: add greenstuff!

Then build an idol:

A golden Idol any adventurer archaeologist may steal. Ahem.

What else did I get for the walls? Tapestries and banners, Genestealer fashion :D

This last one will cover the secret door behind the throne (for a proper throne room must have a secret door!)

Let's see it all:

A couple of close-ups. The central slab on the floor, readu for sacrifices and ceremonies:

And the secret door! (shhh, don't tell anyone it is here!)

This is it, room 1:

You can see it all here:
https://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2018/04/its-game-of-thrones.html

I have already started another room, but I have plenty of work to do on it until I can show something. I have a couple of ideas for new rooms, but I guess I'll develop the dungeon as I build it. So wish me luck!

Brilliant!
I adore the Throne Room, and love what you have done with the place.
I am sure I have that throne somewhere to....
 8) 8) 8)

What I love most of all, though, is the wonderful idol.
Top notch!
Beats a Terry Chocolate Orange any day....  ;)
 :-* :-*

I love a Stealer Cult, absolutely.
Something that I never got around to either.
But I am NOT going to do it, I just do not have time.

Yet....

I shall just admire yours for the next few years or so.
 :D

Cracking stuff  8) Love the details

Might I suggest a bit more dirt, darkness and detritus in the corners?
