Lovely looking game. James has been telling me of the move to FFoL. How many figures can the rules handle.

Five-Six per player comfortably.  I have played with nine figures and it was a bit harder to manage that number.

IIRC the Sci-fi play tests have suggested playing with units (composed of same skills) which might cross over to H&M for bigger games

That's only because he's got small hands and couldn't hold nine cards  lol

Remembering which figure you've activated gets harder in bigger games.  We use cards off the table with stats etc. on to track the individual figures, and by turning them through 90 degrees when you've activated it's easy to track.  I'm sure there are other ways to identify who's activated using counters or some such.

Played a 3 player Border Reviers game last week, each player having 12 figures, marking the figures that had moved with counters. I thought the rules coped very well.

Very nice looking game.  Those Galloping Major figures do look great when painted as well as these.  What is the source of your cornfields?

The cornstalks were purchased on EBay. jT Scenics I think is the maker. 1/48th scale.

It might do yes. For bigger F&IW games I'd go to my other favourite set M&T. ;)  :)

Nice small scale skirmish out on the frontier.great figures and scenics.

Yeap, i agree with this. FFoL is my go to for skirmish games, but I prefer M&T for the larger skirmishs games in this setting.

Thanks for another great game and review.
I found over the years that 5-6 minis is about all the average person can keep track of. FfoL family of games are made for small games with lots of players. For larger fights there are plenty of great rules out there.
As far as the SF rules, Invader, I think you're referring to the "goons" rule.
Goons come in groups of three but count as one miniature. They are henchman, reprobates and scum used to strengthen a force. These could be faceless minions of questionable quality or civilians pressed into service. Goons function just like normal models except they use a d8 and only have 1 wound. That means any Wound roll higher than a Shaken result takes them Out of Action. The flip side is you get 3 for the price of one model. They all activate on one card, so only deal one card for each Goon “group”. You may only have one group of Goons in your crew, and they get no Traits.
That's not to say I'm not working on a unit based game....

Sorry I'm late, the scenery is a class act, very nice indeed, Malamute, you already answered 2 of my questions on the pumpkins, which are brilliant and the corn, but the cabins are they commercial or home made, they are very good either way, especially the shingle roofs.

The three of you should post more of your games, they are entertaining and showcase some remarkably good scenery to encourage us all.

Cheers
