the cost in the UK isnt much more than they were 10years or more ago.  The 1st wave of aircraft were all single packs here too ,i have a feeling that in the later waves one of the autogyro packs had two small aircraft in it. But it was a long time ago so i could be wrong

When people used to play this game did any of you build your own unique aircraft models?

As they were quite expensive over in Germany, especially on my budget back then, compounded by the fact that you were looking at 40-50 Marks (has it really been that long) for just two pairs of planes, I built my first set of planes out of cardboard layers (sanded down and lacquered). Were quite nice and effective, and got a lot of use.

Those were mainly the original dozen designs, although I started to use the construction rules quite quickly, and did a handful of my own designs. I'm sure they are in the box with my metal planes, but unfortunately, I never took pictures.

Later on, though, I usually stuck to the provided designs, as they usually were better rounded, rules-wise. Loved the Valiant in particular - could fly rings around the enemy with that one.

I'm with vesty there! I can't afford the metal ones, so the ones that WK didn't get arround to making, I sculpt out of Sculpy Clay (Like Fimo). So far all I have made is one Warhawk and 1 Valient, but I'm getting better, and will make more soon. I painted the Warhawk like Paladin Blake's first plane, and the Valient is in Dixie colours(of course!)

Nope, not it. The one in question i am asking about is a scratchbuilt one.
It is a scratch of the poster child of Crimson Skies. I cant think of the model off the top of my head.

Yeah, but they wore out fast if used a lot.
I scanned the sheets of the planes provided(Limited paint jobs tho) and glued them to credit card stock and assembled them with crazy glue, and in a much more realistic looking way.. MUCH more durable, but can not disassemble them to store.

I saw someone who made a devastator out of a 1/76 plane, can't remember what he started with. I'll look for it again.

Neither scratchbuilt, nor necessarily 28mm, but did you ever see the toys from Xyber 9? There were a couple of aircraft that MIGHT have worked for true 25.

Scroll down to "Airstriker and Skyfighter."

The first is awesome.

Did that run on Fox? I think I saw parts of an episode or two, the week before it got cancelled. It got replaced by more Digimons, Power Rangers or Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog (shudder...)
