Part 3 of the Battle of Waterloo in 6mm is now on my blog. This covers the period between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. It includes the advance of the French 1st Corps, continuing action around Hougoumont, and the first attacks on La Haye Sainte. https://grymauch.blogspot.co.uk/2018/02/the-battle-of-waterloo-in-6mm-part-3.html

Wow that's superb
I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns. - Winston Churchill

Part 4 of The Battle of Waterloo in 6mm is now on my blog. It covers the period 2.00pm - 3.00pm. French 1st Corps in trouble, the Union Brigade goes mental, La Haye Sainte catches fire, developments in Hougoumont, and von Estorff in line for a court martial!

This must be the most enjoyable series of AAR's that I have followed. A massive amount of work to share - thank you.

I can only imagine going as small as 15mm but your game makes me pause for thought. Do you get much joy out of painting your units or are you outcome focused? It's a grand spectacle.

What a grea project and I like the way you keep track via the blog.

When it comes to 6mm painting -  I find it very enjoyable, mostly because you can see how things progress. It very much is outcome-based, but you can properly see the outcome developing. All you have to do is get the paint where it belongs and don't bother much with shading/highlighting/transitions, and all that annoying faff.

I echo what Battle Brush Sigur has said about painting 6mm. All my Napoleonics are block painted leaving black for shade. It is pretty much less is more to make your figures stand out. With the amount of detail now on 6mm figures produced by the likes of Baccus and Adler it is tempting to paint all the details but really is not necessary.

In answer to the question "do you enjoy painting them" the answer is a very definite yes. In larger scales you admire the individual figure but in this scale you gain satisfaction from the unit. For the past 8 or 9 years I have become a 6mm convert. This now accounts for well over 90% of my wargaming.

Part 5 of The Battle of Waterloo is now on my blog. 3.00pm -
4.00pm. The tide turns with the allied flanks struggling to hold the line. Papelotte falls, Carabiniers prove deadly, the ride of the 6th Cuirassiers and Hougoumont ion the edge.

Part 6 of The Battle of Waterloo in 6mm now on my blog. This covers the period 4.00pm - 5.00pm. Pressure continues to build along the whole of the allied line. Jamin loses his temper much to the amusement of the Grenadier Guards and the Prussians arrive, Hurrah!
