Re-Painted "Heroclix" BatRep - Fantastic Four vs Doctor Doom
« on: February 19, 2018, 12:31:41 AM »
I always like to try and get some of my most recently painted "Heroclix" minis on the tabletop for a fight. This time its the Fantastic Four Vs Doctor Doom.

What's your opinion of the quality of the miniatures for repainting? Thanks!

Hi Ced1106. I think you need to pick and choose as the scale of the sculpts varies so wildly, as does the thickness of the pre-paint. A lot of the more recent "Heroclix" releases appear far smaller/thinner than the original releases, so I tend to avoid those, but every now and then a nice mini which matches the older scale will show up - particularly the larger models.

I tend to re-prime them to get rid of the pre-paint when I can but every now and then have to use their pre-paint as the prime and just layer instead. Hope this makes sense? :-)

For those who've kindly expressed an interest in my homemade rules using re-painted "Heroclix" models, I've posted up the concluding part of latest game. I've tried to explain the rules as the game goes on.

It's the Fantastic Four verses Doctor Doom for the Cosmic Cube ;-)

Thought we'd carry on this 'campaign' by putting the Fantastic Four and Black Panther up against Doctor Doom and Dragon Man using my re-painted "Heroclix" minis and using my homemade rule-set... :-)

I repaint and rebase these figures often.  But (as mentioned by others here), yes, you HAVE to be picky.  Scale is all over the place.  Many times, I have to sculpt some fixes to make the model look a bit better.  But the price is certainly right and they are a snap to convert.
