Bulgarians, Khajzars and Petchenegs in 28mm?
« on: February 27, 2018, 11:57:13 AM »
Hello

I was wondering if someone know which figures -in 28mm- can be used for Bulgarians, Khajzars or Petchenegs for the 8th-10th Centuries? I was thinking to use a mix of Aventine Steppe warriors and Perry Miniatures Turcoman Horse Archers. What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Not an expert myself but I do know that 1st Corps has a 4 pack of Pecheneg cavalry.

And I guess that Old Glory UK will have similar figures available too.

Old Glory has some "horse peoples" in their Dark Ages line:

I think you could do a very nice steppe army using Aventine figures. They are very well sculpted high quality figures, with a nice variety of options. Figures listed as steppe, Avar, and/or Sogdian could all be used.

Yep, Aventine looks good for what I was thinking. My idea was to use them in Saga, i.e. mostly as allies/mercenaries or, if I ignore the fact that they are modelled with stirrups, even as Huns for A&A suplement.
