Suicide Leap
« on: March 01, 2018, 04:34:35 PM »
Played again for the first time in months, and during the game my opponent used Leap on one of my warband, Leaped him into the air, so he took damage, died and dropped his treasure at the feet of one of his soldiers.

At the time we both thought that was a bit powerful, and I thought it was wrong, but didn't have access to the FAQ so we went with it. Afterwards I double-checked and of course, as per the FAQ, it's not allowed.

No problem.

Then another club-mate asked "what if I've Mind Controlled the model earlier?".

An evil idea, sure, but is it allowed? Can I cast Mind Control on someone, then Leap them into the air?

Tried this, only to find out afterwards, afraid to say you cant cast it on anyone but someone in your own war band.
A for effort though :)

(Don't have rules to hand)

Doesn't Mind Control make an enemy one of your warband until it breaks the spell?

I think you can yes, once Mind Control is in place. The FAQ says leap can only go on models under your control, which Mind Control very much does grant.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure it says somewhere in the rules thread that you can't mind-control someone into doing something that results in certain death.
This is a very interesting question!

Mind Control can't force someone to do something that leads to definite damage. So you can't make them fall more than 3" as the damage would be automatic. This includes Leaping them.

You can make them charge a dragon - that's only really, really, likely damage.

Whoops, just realised I'd never thanked Joe for the reply.

So thanks Joe. ;)
