The space marines are very well painting, but they're so campy that I just can't take them seriously, even though I submitted some ridiculous entries myself in Season 2.  The hunting gang is great, but everyone's so well camoflaged that I wonder how even the animals can find the hunters.

Old school marines have it. I still have some of those guys - it'd be like voting against your high school's cheerleading team. No good could come of it.

Wow! These two are REALLY different from each other. Really natural versus bold and over the top. In the end the natural and realistic look of the first entry won my vote. The colors are all so natural and soft. Although it does make it a bit hard to see the different elements well, I do really like the effect. It's almost a yellowed photo from decades ago. Awesome.
Although the painting on the second one is cool...the photo is too close IMO. It makes it a bit hard to see it all well together. In addition, the highlights on the power armor is a bit too harsh IMO. Oh yeah, and I don't like these old space marines at all :P

this explains all!

The 2nd entry is very nice, too.

I have to admit, the photo in the first one really captures the effect well. A great looking entry. The second one is so neat...band-aid on the nose. Will the first win by a neck, or the second by a nose!! Good luck to you both. lol

Thanks for all the votes guys and girls! Tuff competition, I really like Pil's old school "beakies" too! I have some in the lead pile too; I was going to use them for ?Starship Troopers? since I do not play warhammer 40k. I paint for wargaming and as such I paint 10-20 figures at a time on average. I like this competition more and more as it makes me work even harder to reduce the ?Lead Pile? and since I?ve been collecting lead for 25+ years I have quite a pile! I have about 5000+ painted figures so I have made somewhat of a dent in the pile but since the ratio of buying to painting is about 2-1?lol. I work in the Movie / TV biz in Los Angeles and long hours/high stress can take its toll. Nothing like going into the shop with a hot coffee, some good music, and a workbench full of primed ready to paint minis!
Some of you commented on the ?look? of my picture. It was achieved by using my old Nikon 950 and using the ?white balance? control to change the cameras reaction to the incandescent lights giving a soft, warm, steamy, look.
Regards, Bill

Very realistic picture. :-*
How did you get the wild animals to pose for the picture. lol
I see you went with a lot of the rest of us and used some back ground scenery. Very atmospheric picture. You can almost see the steam off the jungle.

Neither here nor there, but "Where's the game?" was my favorite entry of Round 2.

Very nice... presentation, animals, adventurers... all came together for one great shot.

Yes I did.  And very nicely painted, I might add!
