A little temple
« on: March 05, 2018, 05:00:36 PM »
Had to make little temple as a gift for my dad so decided to get a little plastic kit from Japan. It's a Fujimi kit of Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto. The unfortunate thing is that the whole thing was plated in faux gold and didn't take glue to well. It also didn't like the masking tape I was using so thought 'sod it' and sprayed the whole thing brown  :)

It's 1/150 so would be suitable for 10mm figures. I don't have any but if I did I would probably get one for myself and do it up like this one. The base is around 11" by 6" and although the groundwork probably isn't that accurate it'll do for my dad  ;)

Really nice and understated.

You could have used the plastic car and truck modellers staple of de-chroming the gold parts but you have been more than successful with the brown spray.

I'm off to look for 1/150 Chinese stuff to go with my 10mm now.

That's a lovely piece. It'd make a lovely set up at 1:50 or so.  :D

Very nice job, that's come out really well. Incidentally, Fujimi do a 1/100 Kinkaku-Ji which would be OK for 15mm I would think:

Also, there's some nice looking buildings in 1/60 by Japanese companies, which may make a nice change from the mdf stuff:

Do Japanese enthusiasts know Mura's 6mm range? I use these with my 10mm Takeda and Oda armies, and the match-up works well (to my eyes).

I had a really bad last year - and the only time I truly felt peace was in Kyoto.
