These are the business - really very inspiring!
First out here were the chestnuts.
Nit-pickers hat on: At least five of them aren't chestnuts. If a horse has a mane and tail darker than the body colour, it can't be called a chestnut. Technically speaking you have two different horse colours there, rather than one with variants. (There is a horse-mad lady at work who has been explaining all this stuff to me. In return I am expected to represent her precious steed in miniature in one of my units. )
so whether they want to call a chestnut horse bay, flaxen or cow is of little practical use to me.
Hammers,Great painting per usual. When I saw this recent posting I immediately thought of Kipling's Arithmetic on the Frontier "With home-bred hordes the hillsides teem. The troopships bring us one by one". Not sure if these are Kurram Valley scamps, but they would be fine stand ins. (Sorry I couldn't think of a good riding crop comment )Lon
Very, very nice So if you have 10 ‘Chestnuts’ and are aiming for a mixed bag of irregular horse, you must have a fair few more to do. Am looking forward to seeing the next batch.
Jazz Age, schmazz age, not one musical instrument to be seen. Though the vultures and jackals are pretty cool.
