Difficult one! Both are well matched. I voted for the first one. I like the diversity and colors and miniatures and of course it is Star Trek :D. In addition, the bases of the second one are a bit rough with the sand on the sides. It may be a small thing, but for me bases are very important for the total look of the picture.

I agree with the comments there my bases are usually done quickly and I need to spend more time on them, next round I have tried to sort out the sides better and feel that I have achieved a better effect.

Need to also work more on my photography skills as no matter what I seem to do they are out of focus, that too has improved over the weekend a bit,

read the recent thread which has helped as has the good cap'n.

Can't do much about the competition though, Keeper has completed a fine entry  :)

Thanks dodge.  Got to say you're chaps are pretty fine too.  A kindly gent on this board passed onto me some sky pirates a little while ago, and I've been agonising what colours to paint them.  I think I'm now settled on claret and sky blue - thanks, dodge! :)

On the subject of bases, I can strongly recommend the run-a-finger-round-the-edge-of-the-base-after-dipping-in-sand-technique. Both lazy and effective! :)  I should probably also mention my supplier of fine gravel that I used on these chaps, too - Mad Carew Jnr - thank's sir!

The uniform I used was field blue darkened with black for shade and highlighted gradually with white for highlights. You could use the GW space wolves combo's though Shadow grey , space wolf grey.

For the caps belts straps and gloves I used tamyia hull red, then gw scab red then gw new red wash baal red?

nice result comes out.

On the bases front I have started to run my finger round and then paint the edge so that is a step in the right direction. Need to think of some other little touches though or base slightly differently.

Round 4 will be something different for me if I get it done, but it seems that I have lost my imagination when it comes to colour schemes. Never mind there is still time  :)

Could be a draw the way things are looking, :) ( that's probably torn it now  :()

Not a particular popular match though judging by the level of comments hitting the other round posts so possibly a 0-0 draw with nice build up play but no real attacking opportunities.  ::)

that's not really how I see it though as I am developing a nice level of ocd about looking to see how the voting is going  ::)

A 0-0 draw, eh? So are those Villa Zeppelin Truppen or West Ham Zeppelin Truppen?  :)

Well we could have those but I was thinking more of Burnley, they still play in that colour don't they.

or Scunthorpe? I like the sound of that you know Scunthorpe  :D

Villa and West Ham are all likely to score goals nowadays aren't they.

Keeper - saw your post then scrolled up to check again aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh  o_o

Scunthorpe - a fine northern team :D  I remember when they played Chelsea in the FA cup a couple of years ago and actually went 1-0 up before losing :)

Unfotunately my entry this week looks more like several people pulled out of a sci-fi convention at the point of a phaser and forced to play five-a-side!  Good job it isn't really a football contest!!

@Mad Carew Snr: Nice subtle advert there, J. ;) But I like the pun!

Difficult to choose as I like them both equally...

Need to also work more on my photography skills as no matter what I seem to do they are out of focus...

If you haven't tried this yet...Once the group is posed try some shots with and without Macro on.  With Macro OFF you might need to pull back a little.  (I find if I take a group shot with Macro on there is often a focus issue unless - check my photos - I line up the figures so the camera just can't focus on one figure.  If you see my photos where there are figures in foreground and bacjground and they are all in focus - I didn't use Macro.
