The Pikeman's Lament: Patrol
« on: March 12, 2018, 08:43:50 PM »
My friend John stopped by at the end of last week and we played game of The Pikeman's Lament. I played Scots Covanenteers under Ensign Evan "Holy" MacErrol and he played some English Royalists under the command of a foreign mercenary - Johann Strudel.

You can find a full report of the action and loads more pictures on my blog:

Here are a few pics of the action:

All set up and ready to go!

Cavalry charge!

This is getting a b it chaotic...

Wait, where did this preacher come from?

Scots making their way across the creek.

Anyway, check out the blog for a bit more narrative and a bunch more pictures...

Always glad to read PL action reports! It was a nail-biting thing! You had an enjoyable game, for sure! Cheers!

Great report!  I'm looking forward to the return of that Highlander:) How did you build your hills?

Thanks Guys!

How did you build your hills?

I start with a base of 1/8" or 1/4" on that I put some extruded polystyrene insulation. Then I carved away at that until I had the slope I wanted. I covered it with a mix of filler and carpenters glue. On top of that I glues some wood saw dust, then painted the whole thing green - dry brushing on successive layers of lighter greens.

I couldn't find a post just one hill making, but if you go through the terrain articles on the blog you can see some of my process:
