At last, an armoured train of my own!
« on: March 16, 2018, 09:06:52 AM »
As soon as I decided to start BoB as a new project with Copplestone figures, I knew I had to get an armoured train.  I blame Ignatieff for the seductive photos in the rule book and what he posts on LAF, curse him.

Unfortunately, after Wargames Command Post began its wind down, there was no one in the UK stocking it and the tax and postal charges made ordering directly from Company B in the US an eye-wateringly unattractive prospect. So, a big thank you to Great Escape Games in Cardiff, who got what I wanted as a special order and sent it me by courier post free!

As a result, I now have the armoured engine/tender, two armoured artillery cars, two MG cars and and an armoured command car for £189.  Still a significant investment, but a big saving and (although my wife and I have slightly different value sets when it comes to my wargaming expenditure) well worth it in my view.  Now all I have to do is make and paint it, and source some S-gauge track for it to run on.   lol

You'll have to provide pictures of this!

Sounds like quite the train.

Looking to add one of my own someday.

Never posted a photo before, but when it is done, I will try!

10 x 6 normally, although that often seems too small (although it's what you do with it that counts)  lol

What I don't understand is why Company B doesn't have a civilian engine!

Fram,
Company B used to have a civilian engine. Just when I had scraped together enough cash to purchase it it went OOP. I have been hoping it would reappear.

I can't fathom why an MDF item would need to go OOP, given the very low cost of manufacturing, but what do I know? Perhaps there was something wrong with the model.

The passenger carriage is sold out too now and no idea if it'll be back either.

I had hoped to buy goods & passenger cars from Company B at some point, then rebasing them on non-MDF wheels, now I'm not sure that will be possible. Not to hard to build some out of card, but I have low enough motivation for wargaming projects these days as it is!

Fram - was the civilian engine really MDF?  My Company B armoured train is decidedly resin and metal!

But if you are interested in an MDF train, have you seen Sarissa's offering?

Fram,
It was a resin piece. I am not sure if there were metal elements.

Ah, it was the Sarissa that was MDF. I probably had the two switched around.

Company B's are meant to fit S-gauge though, which is the track I have. Oddly I can't find any images of the Company B locomotice at all!

Both the civilian engine and the cars that are currently OOS are being remastered and remolded.  Estimated eta is late May but we all know how these thing go.

Resin hull, metals undercarriage, wheels, add ons.
