Another small game in a box...
« on: March 21, 2018, 07:11:57 PM »
Want to play a "Songs of Baldes..." game on saturday, so I try to get a small warband of Chaos Dwarfs together.
Unfortunatly I have to work later that day, so I am limited to very small luggage....:)

So I first searched for a cool scenario with a senic center piece. I will game the "Attack on the Inn!" a modified version of the old Warhammer Skirmish scenario.
I adopted it for my Chaos Dwarf: they will defend their evil forge...

I bought a small box at the dollar shop and tried to modify it to a forge building.

I will stuff the little box later in my mini rucksack and wrap it in a gaming mat for protection.

So this is the box....pretty ugly, but for just one euro...pretty okay.

Then I scraped a mass of lttle stone fro styrofoam and glued them on.
Luckily the forge will rest on the back of the playing field, so it can be open to the back...

Gets a roof...

...wich must be detacheable, to get the box closed.

Took me around 2 hours of painting and glueing and so....;)

And all fits in the box...:)

After completing the forge I put a little sign on the front.

Its conneted with a neodym magnet.

After that was finished I started with the Chaos Dwarfs warband...
I really like the models and had them laying around for ages. Very happy to get them painted after all this years.... :D

Cheers,
Don

Cracking!

Both the forge and the dwarves. Are you doing their opponents too?

And some nicely themed measuring sticks?

Excellent idea! And your stone painting is very realistic! Good games! Cheers!

A great bit of very practical terrain.

Well done.

fantastic idea! And really well executed too

I'm racking my mind to try and think of a way I can steal, erm, copy, erm, use this concept for one of my games  ;)

If they've been "laying around for ages", look after the pregnant ones. You might get lots of free figures that way.

Great work; the forge looks just awesome. I'm curious about any other terrain in the works.

You did some excellent work on those Chaos Dwarves. I've always loved this range, even though it was only current for a couple of years in the early nineties.
I must say, those round bases certainly are more appealing than the regular square ones (your basing is great too btw; I'm a fan of steppe bases as opposed to volcanic bases for Chaos Dwarves myself), but obviously, you picked them because of your chosen ruleset.

Coincidentally, I dug my Chaos Dwarves up just last night, to take inventory, as I acquired another small batch of them last week, and I wanted to see if I'm close to a full (WHFB) army by now.

Turns out I am... :D

Keep it up; I'll be keeping an eye on this thread! :)
