Since it is used alot although originates from FU-UK/Frother's

'ello Col. or 'doing a col.':

Refers to a poster that showcases a new model or kit, as 'new', who has failed to check if this has been posted before and infact ends up being 'late to the party' with a repear thread on an item already posted.

Derived from Col. Marble's video miniature reviews that used to be posted on Youtube and featured on Frother's.

Worth adding?

People keep posting battle reports which they call 'AARs'.

WTF is an AAR and WDW just call it a battle report or - as we did back in the day -  'BatRep'?

I've only been wargaming on and off for 35 years. I like to know these things, and it's frankly OMG embarrassing that new TLAs have been invented whilst I wasn't OTB (that's 'on the ball' not 'on target bonus') leaving me now looking sadly like an out of touch BOF.

Isn't an AAR: after action report or something?

"Aar" is the noise pirates make.  Or Robert Newton, anyway.

The best guidance I know on acronyms is, "Never use them, unless it has generally been forgotten that they are acronyms - like "Radar".

In any case, most "TLA"s aren't even acronyms, just initials - you can't pronounce them as words, so that other piece of writing wisdom, "Don't write anything you couldn't speak," also applies.

Hear, hear!

The reason for the list of acronyms etc. was not to make the statement that they are good. They are there, and I among others am sometimes stumped by them, thus the list.
People at my job have the habit of talking about people by their organizational three letter shortname, which I as a new guy found confusing and a bit rude really. I even got a job nickname because of it. 'Skinkan', which is Swedish for 'the ham' as HAM is my organizational short.  ::)

No criticism was intended of your attempt to ameliorate the damage, Hammers, I can assure you.
