1600+ building ships
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:20:52 PM »
For a long time I wasn't able to find out how a small ship in early 16th century like a fly-boat and/or pinnace may looks like.

Than I have seen that at Jamestown Settlement there are three replicas, two of them are the smaller ships I am looking for.

So maybe someone has visited this place before and may have made a lot of photos of these ships ...   especially of the Godspeed?

Zero chance of finding them this weekend - prepping for and running a game today at a convention and playing tomorrow - but I visited there a dozen years ago and got to see and visit one of these ships while others were actually sailing the waters off of the recreated Jamestown (which is not at the site of the original which I also visited, archeological site so inappropriate for the reconstruction).

I'll see if I can find those photos - the exist.  Somewhere?

However, that second linked photo should help a lot.

I too visited those boats/Jamestown, about 25 years ago. Will try to find the pictures, but don't hold your breath.

Thank you all for your help!
I am still looking / asking for pics showing the deck and the bow structure of the Godspeed and the two other ships. I started yesterday with the first scaling and drawing of the plans for the hull.

The inner structure for the Godspeed, it's really a small ship

And a third ship, this time a spanish war galleon, loosly based on the plans of the San Salvador paper model

Thanks for the kind comments.

For the spanish side there are three more ships in the pipeline, hulls are more or less finished. Now masts and sails must be made.

Some small update:

The Jolly Boat made by Games of War as the smallest command available ingame

And I rediscovered my old gaming cards for some home brewn naval warfare. The idea is that depending on the quality of the ship and the experience of the captain a number of cards can be drawn. There are six different cards: load guns, fire guns, change speed, change direction, prepare for boarding action, and a special maneuver card to handle anchors and boats.
