Hotlead 2018 was a HUGE success!
« on: March 24, 2018, 04:44:13 PM »
Hotlead 2018 was immensely successful. More people (Friday night alone surged by about 50%-100% increase). Record amounts sold in the Bring & Buy. Lots of cool games.
My personal observations with some links to other blog posts: http://rabbitsinmybasement.blogspot.ca/2018/03/hotlead-2018-aar.html

It was another great year.

Moving the bring and buy was a smart move (as was giving a few of the larger sellers their own tables).

I wonder if anything could be done to attract more retail vendors? Just musing really.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

I hear you. I had a hard time finding anything to buy! Thank God Don Cameron had an Osprey I wanted.

Trouble is in this day and age with everyone buying direct from source on the Internet it's really hard for more broad interest retailers to exist. North Bay Hobbies is closed. J&M is closed. Most of your hobby game shops just carry the mass appeal stuff like X-Wing and 40K.
AND they don't have enough stock or staff to keep the store open while going to a show.
Meeple Mart said he's interested in coming back if he can figure out how to keep the shop open while he's in Stratford.
Being in Canada we can't get the American figure companies to cross the border, even if we were big enough.
And well Adepticon schedules the same weekend as we do, so there's Crucible Crush, 6Squared and Pulp Figures....

Looks like a fun time. I was at Adepticon that weekend, but great to hear that you all were soldiering on out in the middle of the Great Lakes.
