'Squad Hammer'...
« on: March 29, 2018, 09:08:58 AM »
We initially got these rules to fight skirmish (Mercenaries v Simbas) games. But they are designed for 'proper' wargaming!
Next game will be an early WW2 scenario. The plucky Tommies having 8 Infantry sections, two Bren carriers, Humber A/C and a Matilda. Jerry will be fielding 7 Infantry sections, armoured H/Track, eight wheel A/C, Pz.38T and a Pz. IV. I’m looking forward to this one as there a decent variety of firepower/armour  to sort out… should be a good test of whether I’ve really gormed the rules properly!

Be about three weeks before we can get the game on... the real world's reared it's ugly head.

Counter attack, finally got round to playing our Easter game yesterday! France 1940 and the plucky Tommies punched a hole in Rommel’s flank. Jerry kind of dithered a bit and the British took full advantage to crack on and make ’em have it, lesson re-learned… hard cover is your friend!

But it’s Jerry we’re fighting so it was never going to be easy…

But Tommy can hit hard too…

Who says the Boyes is no good now?

Great game, which could have gone either way right up to the last couple of turns. Activations are great fun when your opponent rolls two ones, the game took just under two hours, played at a casual pace with a tea break after each tank got blown up!

Sounds like you had a fun game.
So, what is your take on the rules?
Like or dislike.
Or need a few more games played for an opinion.

The rules are kind of growing on me now we're getting the hang of 'em. To be honest back in the day, WW2 wise we never progressed from 'Operation Warboard'! So it's not hard to gorm that rules not making your brayn hurt find great favour in the Emporium. Our next 'Squad Hammer' adventure will be back in the Congo with the Simbas and 'Wild Geese'.
