Empress release 28mm Modern Germans
« on: March 31, 2018, 07:19:47 PM »
Very interesting!

http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart94.htm

These will sit nicely with their Leopard - hopefully an APC to follow?

Lots of possibilities opening up!

Put your trust in God and keep your powder dry!

Woo, Empress are back to releasing some moderns. Hopefully we'll see more. :D

G36s are pretty useful, even if the uniforms may need to be changed a tad to represent other states. British Bermuda regiment and local armed response teams come to mind.

Coincidentally SASM have just released German Special Forces too.

If I make it to the heat death of the universe I will not have finished my Empress stuff.

Nice, so now I need to add them to my shopping list for Salute, going to need a bigger shopping bag...

A Fuchs would be nice, and  Wiesels. Probably either a Puma or a Boxer (or going slightly retro a Marder).

A G-Wagon and/or the armoured version for lighter stuff.

Yes, I know, they add a new range and I am wishlisting already....

Interesting choice given that the G-36 is about to be replaced in the Bundeswehr. Too modern for Afghanistan but won’t be modern enough in a couple of years time. The pain of modelling contemporary military figures I suppose.

Does anyone know what they are getting yet?

Some AR clone, like what most of the NATO forces are due to arm themselves with (I mean as a platform, not a specific model), according to Jane's. In 28mm scale an AR looks the same as any other AR, especially if they're the size of the ones Spectre's making.

I'd assume that the Germans at least are using decent magazines in their rifles, so even if they swap to another STANAG using rifle they should be better than the crap every other army's using (apparently the US Marines have ones dating back to Vietnam still in use. Those poor springs).

The Empress helmets are interesting, I assume they are a ballistic version of the skateboard helmets used by special forces?

[Edit ] I have found some pictures of KSK wearing similar helmets.

They look like the pretty standardised helmets which special forces are wearing world wide right now (probably due to relationships between groups, and the Americans in particular training a lot of them, or being seen as the standard; so other countries copy them for ease). Most of SASM's special forces also happen to be wearing the same model.

I was just expecting line infantry kit rather than SF.

Still nice figures.

Have just been surfing around - today’s Bundeswehr are very techie it seems. Empress have it right. Vorsprung durch technik it seems (quoting that shows my age  lol)!

(PS I’m not very Facebook literate but there’s a link to an interesting You Tube piece by the German Army on the Empress page. These figures are certainly not Special Forces... or Sci Fi..... ;) )
