SW Legion and other rules.
« on: April 01, 2018, 12:19:58 PM »
Ok I caved in and bought Legion mostly for the miniatures. Although I am going to try out the rules, I'm wondering if there are any other good small scale skirmish rules made for SW out there? . I would prefer rules that do not use cards only Dice.

There is always 7tar Wars:

Though there are cards involved but only as part of the turn countdown (it is a game in three acts).

Rogue Stars works pretty well right out of the box.

While not using the Legion minis, I have been running it with a pretty close thing using the WotC prepainted minis

I don't have any of the others so I'd second Rogue Stars although I do also recall using A Fistful of Kung Fu to good effect.

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

Using the Inquisimunda rules as a baseline (based in turn on the original Necromunda rules), it shouldn't be too difficult to re-skin (and/or re-stat as appropriate) into the Star Wars mythos.

AE:Bounty is basically SW by another name, and is a pretty nice set of rules. It also includes lots of scenarios, a campaign with progression (if you want it), and various exotic terrain rules for things like fighting aboard space stations.

I've used Frostgrave for Star Wars. A lot of the spells lend themselves to Force powers.

Two rulesets I've been looking at are:

Personal project from gamers of mongoose publishing which did include them being playtested and was outlined in a development blog.
Star Wars 7th ed. 40K https://ttgamingdiary.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/codex-star-wars-downloads/

and

Fubar have some Star Wars rules, a nice respected set of free rules and also covers prequels if you'd like to try and get some Clone Troops and Battle Droids:
