Question. Will the  Cold War US Army be early/mid eighties in PASGT helmets and vest and M16A1 or later with PAST gear and  M16A2? Inquiring minds must know.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Hi Carlos.

It'll be M16A1s, some with M203s & M60 mg's. Helmets will be M1s and webbing will be ALICE. Uniforms to be camo BDU. Early 80's stuff. They are to provide a counterpoint to the Russian Motor Rifle packs I have.

Hope this helps.

Hmm. You might want to consider at least some optional heads. As it is, you will have a force that will be mostly useful for regular troops for a very short window at the start of the ‘80s. Given that Empress are producing separate heads in M1 helmets by the same sculptor, it would give us more options if you had PASGT helmets. Might be sensible to get some M249s and a Dragon sculpted too.

Your Russians are fine right up until the fall of the Soviet Union.

Now it seems I’ll be doing a lot of filing and puttying of Skirmish Sangin rangers.

By way of reference the US Army started issuing BDUs from around 1981/82. By 1983 the PASGT helmet and flak jacket are being issued and were in evidence in Grenada. Now whilst it’s true that the M1 lingered on, it was increasingly less common as the decade progressed.
