Looking for Arthurian heraldry
(1/2) > >>
cdm:
Has anyone got any really good links, guides, hints, tips etc on the heraldry of Arthur and his opponents?
I had started collating it myself, lost a PC, and I'm too lazy to try and rebuild it all.
Looking for stuff so I can make retinues etc for a larger scale Arthurian based battles. I'll be using heretical late medieval figures like the movie, and I'm open to anything slightly non 'canon' if someone's done some detailed alternate reality Arthur :)

Great work, thank you so much :)

If you mean Mort de Arthur sort of heraldry (which technically would be fantasy) :

If you're refering to the 'historical' Dark Age Arthur, then the heraldry is anybody's guess.
Mounted Gododdin warriors supposedly carried 'white' or 'limed' shields.
If you're refering to the 'image of Mary' Arthur is said to have carried, that is a later interpolation, since historically when Arthur is supposed to have flourished, the cult of Mary was just a 'kickstarter' in the Eastern Mediterrrean.
