Looking for civilians
« on: February 23, 2007, 09:22:08 AM »
I'm looking for 17th century Civilians and Peasants for my Swashbuckling games.

The only ones I found are Foundry ones :

There are also Redoubt ones but I don't know how they match with BrigadeGames / Foundry / Perry's minis.

I like to use some of MegaMini's
Town Folk and Kings Court. Not quite historical accurate but I like them.
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Redoubt civilians are tempting but I don't really know how they mix.

The Redoubt figures are large, yes (at least the Three Musketeers and ECW ranges, the Pirates are tiny by comparison for some reason). The Vendels are true 28mm and somewhat stockier-looking. I don't have any of the Brigade Games musketeers yet but have been given to understand they're slightly smaller than the Redoubts, however not so much they won't look good together.

However the same thread pointed Bicorne minis

You know I think I found the perfect guys. Bicorne miniatures has two packs of pikeman meleeing with swords; both unarmored and armored. They don't have picture, but pics with normal pikeman look cool. I think I'll get both packs just to have some variety. The peasants are tempting me as well. Maybe I'll use them as moving encounter markers. :)

Those civilians seem nice :

Redoubt are quite large, but I mix them up with Foundry and Brigade Games and they're not so bad.

For civilians I use the Mega Minis townsfolk, since barmaids and bartenders don't change that much.

Old Glory has some good civilians mixed in with the Pirates line, including peasants and nobility, and a fat governor with creepy attendants.

Here are the Old Glory "Revolting Peasants" line.

The only thing I don't like about the Reaper figures is their huge size. It just doesn't fit with anything else.  :?

Perry Miniatures has shown some Spanish civilians from the Carlist wars (XIX c.) that may be suitable for you
