Big Scoop of Zombie At The Ice Cream Parlor/28MM
« on: April 16, 2018, 02:07:07 AM »
My post apoc collection will include only one interior.  Interiors for my 28mm collections have become an important feature of my collection in recent years… at least they are important to me.  My first interior effort was simply lifting the roof off one of the Miniature Building Authority Spanish buildings in my Pirates collection and placing some figures in the room.  Since that simple beginning I have developed an approach based on what I imagine a sound stage set would look like… a floor and a couple of walls.  It offers space with easy access for arranging figures and furniture.  It’s open so easy to photograph, and the way I construct the walls and floor (Evergreen and JTT Plastic) the pieces (floor and walls) come apart for easy, flat storage.  My post apoc interior is an ice cream parlor with tables, counters and stools, a jukebox and refrigerator units.  The furniture came from a little decorative diorama I found at the swap meet several years ago.  It was made of resin and included one of each of the items mentioned above.  I used the original pieces to make additional pieces cast in resin.  The jukebox is from a Lemax-style diner (not sure it is Lemax) I found at the swap meet a year ago.  The ice cream parlor’s red door is made from pieces of Evergreen Plastic.  I think it worked out well… with the addition of a little zombie violence of course.  I hope you will check out the 16 weeks of my post apoc work on my Weekly Workbench at www.warin15mm.com

It's not big, or clever, but let's do it anyway

Looking good.

But I must say it bugs the hell out of me that the tiles on the bases does not match up with the floor.

Damn, those zombies can't even get their tiles straight!

Thanks to both of you for writing and the kind words.

Very nice, though the tiles begin to eat my mind if I stare at them too much (the non alignment of base to tile is not an issue ^__^).

Wonderful work as usual.
 :-* :-*

The tiles do not bother me as much as stereotypical American diner interior decor.
That really makes me shudder!
 ;)

The waitress reminds me of the one on my Milliway's tee shirt.

Thanks to all for writing... always appreciated.  In my initial posting I don't think I mentioned that the waitress is a Horrorclix figure.  While the majority of the figures I use in my collections come from the more traditional metal figures manufacturers, over time I have come to enjoy the wide variety of interesting figure options provided by Heroclix.  In many cases the figures are very cheap... less than a dollar... and provide some nice modification possibilities.  Apparently Horrorclix didn't catch fire the way that Heroclix seems to have done, but there are a number of Horrorclix figures that are well worth having.  Now I'm rambling.  Thanks again.  Richard

Really cool - and I have to confess I was drawn by the thread subject - clever  :D 8)
The tiles are great - and I love the jukebox.

Although it's not quite the same sort of establishment, it reminded me of Edward Hopper's 'Nighthawks':

... to the extent that I'd actually make a small print with some sort of frame and hang it on the wall of the parlor!
