Salute 2018 Photoreport
« on: April 16, 2018, 10:26:38 AM »
So another Salute is gone by and I took a lot of photos like every year. The show was like the years before very well organized and despite the mass of people there wasn’t a very  long delay to get in. The games were very well presented and the selection of traders was outstanding. But there is one point I have to criticize , the lighting . When you got into the  Salute venue it was very dark. So dark that it was sometimes difficult to take decent pictures ( as you sadly will se below). There could be more light and in the venue next door ( a wedding convention ) it was very different , much more light !

I took about 250 pictures which you can see here: https://wargamesgazette.com/2018/04/16/the-salute-2018-photoreport/

A few teasers:

Great stuff.
Sorry I missed you Tom - I was there for six hours, but seem to have missed lots of people I know! ::)

I agree it seemed darker than ever in there. The lighting really is awful. Don't know there's anything they can do about it, but it's a constant refrain every year, and seems to be getting worse not better :?

But I thought the standard of display games on offer was much improved compared to the last couple of years, with a good number of eye candy worthy tables, including several stand-outs.

And I only spotted one bright green Subbuteo-cloth game this year. (Although there were a few deserty games that appeared to be on blankets / dustsheets of various descriptions... A bit lame ::))

The Crete game with the Schellboote was actually Leros. Thanks for the pics.

Seconded to all of the above, including the number of people I missed. :)

That mini-Salute table is utterly fantastic, what a great idea and execution. Thanks for the pictures!
