WW1 SE5a in 1/100th scale
« on: April 19, 2018, 07:49:56 AM »

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the RAF, I am going to paint up a scratch-built 1/100th scale SE5a.

For full details of the progress see this link;

Nice job there Tony!  I'm hoping to build a biplane for the 100th anniversary as well.

Nice job there Tony!  I'm hoping to build a biplane for the 100th anniversary as well.

I had originally looked at e-bay to see what 1/72nd and 1/48th scale biplanes were available but in the end settled for finishing off this scratch built SE5a. I look forward to seeing what you build.

I think there may be many more models being built to commemorate the 100 years anniversary.

The undercoat is watered-down Linen paint.

The main fuselage colour is a brown/Khaki mix as seen in the book Aces and Aircraft of World War 1 by Christopher Campbell.

Most of the detailed painting has now been done. The next step is to varnish the model and then add the markings.
