I got Shadespire for my Birthday in April and I have to say I love it!
Been playing with the kids and other pals.
It's an awesome game and concept.
It's been slightly tainted by it's adoption by the CCG crowd who are releasing uber unbeatable decks by the minute, but they can be safely ignored in the safety of your own home.
The game is fast and easy. It provides some nifty tactical challenges which I find rare amongst the small scale 'skirmish' type games. It comes complete. Replayability interest is high.
And the minis are really nice. The only GW stuff I have bought recently was the two small starter sets for 40k and AoS. They were pretty good value little boxes and the minis were OK.
The Shadespire minis are superb. I really think GW have played to the strengths of plastic. I purchased the Skaven gang and they have some really cool touches, things that metal would not be able to do. Tiny little outstretched rat fingers, a knife held by the end of a skinny thin tail. The bases are lovely too, some cool scenic bits, rats under gratings etc.
The minis in the box are nice, but the skaven take the biscuit.
I'm really impressed for just over £30 and the upgrade gangs are under £20 and come with between three and seven minis and loads and loads of cards.
I have to say, I'm into it
There is limited scope for terrain, but there are three blocked areas on the boards and I made small features to go in them, so the boards are a little more 3D. I reckon a proper 3D all over board would look superb, but it's hex based so you'd have to have something to indicate those.
Just ordered the Orcs, although they are now called something else Urruogh or summit.
Figures do seem to be MASSIVE though
