Are the 4 sections that make up your brigade bases separate or permanently fixed?

They are based separately on plastic (because I originally painted the 2mm stuff to use for Battle Cry). For AoF, I stuck four of those bases with Blue Tack unto a thin cardboard base - they are so light this works perfectly.

I'm going to paint up more such brigade bases and then I will immediately put four regiments on a large base.

May I recommend taking a quick look at a less well known set of rules, Fields of Blue & Grey?

Thanks, I had not heard of them before.

Assume they're actually using whatever formation is best suited for the situation - the Colonels are handling that aspect of combat.

A statement like this in the first few lines of the intro is a good sign.

Are those yours Dan?
Just finished reading them through, have to say I really like the ideas behind those.  Will need to work out how to scale them for 2 or 3mm figures but the basis of exactly what I was looking for is in there.

I was contemplating dipping my toe into the pond of ACW a while back but got led astray by other projects. While researching rules, Fire and Fury were the rule set which seemed to keep coming up again and again. There are two versions available, Brigade F&F and the newer Regimental F&F. Might be of interest to you.

...and what fresh new hell is this?

F&F is probably the best known of all ACW rules and for the level of game it is designed for it is fun. I played it for a while at a previous game club (with Adler 6mm figures), sold it off a long time ago.
But it is not what I want for this project.

Yes, thank you, those are one of my projects.  I'm kind of pleased at how they turned out.
