'Silmarils Rampant' Host of Angband.

To fight against my newly converted Elves, I have been building an evil force. I went with GW models because I had loads already and they do actually fit well enough with my mental image of First Age (Silmarillion) Orcs, 'shielded with iron and shod with iron.' The Morannon Orcs and Uruk Hai were bought ready painted from EBAY - they had been base coated, washed and had rudimentary highlights. I just repainted some tunics, tidied up the highlights and repainted the shields. The dragon is the fabulous Firedrake from Mithril Miniatures. The colour scheme is based on Tolkien's own sketch of Glaurung and I really like it. The werewolf is a conversion of a Warhammer Chaos Hound I did for an abandoned Mordheim Norse war band project years ago. I have lots to do - two more trolls to make a unit of 3 (reduced model unit of offensive heavy foot), plus lots more Orcs and some Warg Riders, plus some wolves to join the werewolf as Lesser Warbeasts. Very nice indeed, especially the werewolf conversion.

Been working on a bunch of the GW Misty Mountain goblins as degenerate cultists in a Dragon Rampant Mythos-inspired army lately myself.  Quite like the idea of them as Bellicose Foot with the Fearful quirk.  Good cheap glass cannons, as befits gibbering mostly-naked lunatics.
