I think an MDF kit would just end up looking like the pics at the start of this thread but with doors, windows and a roof.

It's not till the individual details are all added and the craftsmanship applied that the building starts to take on any character.

MDF is ok as a basic starting point, but you have to breath life into them or else they just look flat and mass produced.
