So, gatehouse is done (apart from the gate) and the outer walls have begun. Different from the first iteration as I wasn’t entirely happy with the way they looked. These new ones will be given a similar treatment as the Norman hall.

Just left now are the outer walls and the groundwork  :)
cheers

Awesome! Now you need to make some more outbuildings to go with it... Where is the lord of the manor going to keep his horses? You need stables!

thats looks very tasty and suitably impressive!
Love the gatehouse - are outer walls going to have stonework or rendered?

It is coming out very impressive!
Eager to see how you'll finish the walls, will there be any walkway?
I'm also sure you're going to spice the yard with some cute little thingies  ;)

Absolutely masterful construction and painting, love it.... you're also making me wish I had a 3D printer, those windows & doors are neat.

Many thanks gents  :)

You need stables!

Ah! I knew I forgot something  :)

are outer walls going to have stonework or rendered?

Rendered the same as the Norman hall but a slightly different colour.

Eager to see how you'll finish the walls, will there be any walkway?

Maybe. There’s plenty of precedence not to have a walkway though and yes, there will be lots of little details for the eye to soak up  :)

Great to see a pringles container as well. Every modellers friend.  lol

I’ve got them everywhere  lol

Coming along fine!  :)

The walls at Stokesay are much reduced in height (although AFAIK not reduced in depth), but if they did have walkways, they would have been timber, much like those English Heritage built themselves on other castles.

Stokesay is in the Welsh Marches, so right into the start of the 15th Century it needed to be defensible; in later centuries not so much.
