It's coming on really well, as expected  ;)

The oldest unmodernised onsen I've been in was built around the 1750s, so hardly a perfect analogue, but it had a pretty similar styling and layout to what you've planned. The only sìgnificant difference was that the spring pool fed into a split bamboo chute, which diverted the water into a large barrel bath- to regulate the ~65°c water that comes out from the ground and get it closer to a 40°c-ish hot bath temperature.  Otherwise your layout feels really good, the amount and size of buildings is spot on 👌

Thanks chaps  :)

Will have the buildings painted tonight and will start to layout the hot spa area long with the stepping stones.

I honestly don't think there would've been any serious changes between the Sengoku and the 1750's so I'm happy there  :)

I'm just going to keep it with the spring welling up in the pool and let the buggers suffer  lol
cheers

That's just begging for a miniature of a guy painted bright red from the neck down, wearing just a towel on his head and a loincloth type affair to preserve his modesty 😰

Buildings are painted, paths are down and the spring is built. Fences will be done over the weekend.

Thanks  :)

You're curiosity might go on for a while yet as I'm leaning towards a yamato-bei style wall (timber).

No, what it needs is a troop of red faced snow monkeys luxuriating in the steam.

It’s a jolly nice jacuzi James. I’m still waiting for the perfectly raked, just so pebble garden, so beloved of gardening centres the world around. :)
