I love a big terrain project and a few of us here got into Gaslands recently. So I decided to create a racetrack.

The layout. I actually did the layout in Inkscape before I laid it out on the mat. It is based on a lot of small town race tracks/speedways:

I used acrylic caulking on wax paper. The idea was that it would be portable between underlying mats. Caulk does peel off wax paper, so this works, just not for this project

If I did this again, I would put directly on the canvas mat, which is what I ended up doing. And while I was doing that, the dog came to investigate:

The almost end product. I need to paint the concrete pads and cut the sides

I've put up a few more pictures plus some more explanation on Warbard: http://www.warbard.ca/2020/09/30/esquimalt-thunderdome-a-gaslands-race-track/

All good racetracks need a sign, so I whipped one up in FreeCAD and printed off a test version

Did up some new track barriers in a fun red and white scheme. The barriers themselves are Bremer Walls from thingiverse, scaled to 50% size and printed on my Ender 5. Airbrushed, inked and then pastel dust for final weathering.

For the damage, I placed bluetack on the areas I wanted to keep the base primed grey, airbrushed over it, pulled out the bluetack and then washed the holes. It worked really well, even though I wasn't too exact with my bluetack placement.
