Thanks all.  :)

Regarding the plaster blocks, I’ve used them before. For a Medieval inn and for a 19thC Afghan watchtower.

It’s basically the same approach but scaled up a bit.  :D

These were/are either drystone or decrepit models. If I was going to make say a castle in good order I think I’d use foam blocks for the conformity of build and finish.

Carving, scraping and sanding the plaster used for the walls and floors is now done.

The build now includes 15 full arches, 2 collapsed arches and 3 partial vaulted ceilings.

Ive also reinforced sons of the weakest  points with superglue.

It doesn’t show up so well in this photo but I’ve added a collapsed arch to one edge of the board - as it’s a column of single blocks I drilled through and added a metal rod then reinforced with superglue.

With similar walls to each side, I can butt up additional buildings to add to the overall complex.

Next steps are adding the earth and a moderate amount of rubble before filling big gaps and sealing everything with dilute glue.

Superb Steve, I am always amazed how quickly you build stuff. How about a few extra low lying ruined wall pieces on separate bases to represent buildings or boundary walls?

Brill  :)

Just a small suggestion, take off the top three blocks in the tallest arch and then one the remaining top row to make it look less symmetrical.
cheers

Cheers chaps  :D

Sadly, Keith, have had to return indoors for the next bit, as the glue dries too quickly in the sun. ;)

Yep, Nick, a couple of smaller bases will be good. I have in mind something like this from Amon Hen (?) , which would make a good platform for a beacon:

I’m struggling to come up with ideas for another. Boundary walls is a definite though.

And, James, I do believe you are right:

 :D

Edit: makes it more about the arch, less about the apex of the roof line

That's the Seat of Sight (the Seat of Hearing was on the other side of Tol Brandir I think). A simple stack of blocks in a ziggurat formation would suffice I think.

I had to look up ziggurat  :D

Nice idea but I think I want to stick with something stylishly similar to the dominant piece and that is repurposed to take a beacon (as an option)

Rubble is in. The building is robbed out so it’s more a suggestion than the debris of a decimation.  I used a few whole blocks but mostly just piled-up the trimmings from making the walls, which were then drenched in dilute glue.

Sieved sharp sand still to be added to the outer edge but I’ll probably do that tomorrow.

Very impressed. The rubble is a great amount for gaming.
