Muslim Hill Tribes for Sikh Wars
« on: May 25, 2018, 09:40:55 AM »
Just had these back from the basing department and really pleased with them. Using them for Sikh Wars irregulars. Nearly all Foundry Afghans, they still look the mutts nuts to me despite being very old castings. More pictures and quick write up here:

Great job on these classic minis. Nice painting and the basing really give an active feeling to this unit.

Some of the best figures Foundry ever made , I have them all . The skin toes are very nicely handled.

Thanks very much for the feedback. hoping to have another unit of these done in the next few weeks. Belisarius, I have used this colour for the skin for some years, its actually a leather brown base with highlights in what colour party call English Civil War Buff. Its the most appropriate colour I have found for Indian/Middle Eastern Flesh so far. Glad you like it.

Very effective, Roger .  Indian skin tones can be hard to get right , experimenting with the colours is the key to success. I like the muted palate you,ve used on the clothing too , indicitave of living and sleeping outdoors in well weathered clothes , it ties the unit together .

Cheers Belisarius, I think its important to stay away from bright colours, except maybe the odd sash here and there. Possible exception being the leader figure. That irregular lived in look is exactly what I was going for, thank you.

Roger,

Nothing original for me to say, just echoing the above admiration for your fantastic work on some of my all-time favorite figures! Love the painting and also love the basing, and looking forward to seeing their reinforcements when the time comes!
