The big question is, did he paint from a black undercoat or a white undercoat?  ???

Excellent link, Byblos! Everyone please check out also the ones titled Military Miniatures (1966) and Hand Carved Soldiers (1956). I must say the lad in the latter 1950s video is a truly dedicated hobbyist, as he carves his own miniature figures out of solid lead blocks! :o

I feel that my game room won't be complete until I get a classic purple chair in it now!

Brilliant link, thanks for sharing it.

The Perry Twins started off sculpting with plasticene. I had an edition of Military Modelling from the late 1970s that showed their large scale (1/4 scale?) busts and some rather remarkable  British paratroopers. As anyone who read MM or Airfix magazine knew, the trick to hardening the plasticene was some magical substance called ‘Banana Oil’.

There used to be a shop called Bonaparte's in Bath, back in 96/97 they were passed at least some of Peter Cushing's figure collection. I saw them (can't recall what was there) but didn't buy any - idiot. Did send a mail to the shop last year querying if they still had any, didn't hear back.
