[BYBLOS - SENGOKU JIDAI 28mm] Village (Updtd 25Th May)
« on: May 21, 2018, 01:51:38 PM »
Hi !

The first house of a 28mm Sengoku Jidaï

Inspired by the Warfare 2017 "Samurai Wrath" table from Wargame , Soldier & Strategy

It's the house of a lesser samurai or a wealthy peasant ...

I will add a little tool house ...

The other buildings will be poorer houses , inspired by the excellent work of Duhamel on LAF

There will be a lot of accessories added ...

2018 will be a year of buildings , scenettes and terrains for me : i would like to complete my SJ castle , my SJ monastery , my SJ village , my medieval castle & village , and make a lot of others buildings ...

Lot of work , fine  :)

Beautiful! The pitch of the roof is perfect for that kind of house- quite often this type of roof was used by silk worm farmers in the North, keeping their worms in the attic which was warmer than the rest of the house.

Lovely work  :)

I would say that the pitch of the roof on the first one looks a little too steep.
cheers

whilst rummaging through some photos I came across this one I took last year in Japan and thought it might help you out-

this is perhaps the steepest pitch roof that I've seen in Japan, and in comparison with your first model, I think you might be around 30% too tall.  The building in this photo has 3 1/2 floors, 2 1/2 of those are within the thatched area

Similarly this illustration shows a roof of perhaps the same ratios as the photo above, with less usable floors but a heavier more sculpted ridge to the roof.

I suppose there's always the possibility of historical outliers being steeper than average/normal, I think the height would look fantastic on a wider building.  Either way, lovely sculpting on the thatch  :)

Anyway, I hope they're of some use to you  ;)
